The concept behind the 100 days x2interactive project

Dear friends,

Earlier today I tweeted that my company released a pre launch website. The pre launch website is to mark the day that our new official website will be launched. Some of you might think

“ok, so what’s the point of this website, why not launch the official website at once”?

I understand why someone would ask that. I also understand why someone would even care that we are going to launch our proper version of the site in 100 days. Well, to tell you all the truth, this website is for us at x2interactive. Yeap. It is for us! It is to motivate us into making our new website.

The History
During tha last year my company didn’t have a website. Yes, we might even have been the only Web Agency in the world without a site for so long. Why you ask? Well, last year we took down our old site because as designers we suddenly got the urge that our old site was … old! So we took it down and said that we would imedietly work on our new one. Every time we sat down to work on the x2interactive project something happened. For example we got a new client(s) and suddenly we didn’t have any time on our hands to design our own site. It was only natural to give priority to our clients websites. Other times we worked on our blog ( Anyway we just couldn’t find the time to do this!

This kept on going on for months and months until we decided that we must find a way to motivate our selves into making our new site.

The Idea
The idea came one day when John Efstathiou (my business partner) and I were having a beer. We thought that the best way to get our selves motivated was to put our selves in the public eye by declaring to all that in XX days we would be launching our new website. That way if we didn’t make it on time we would look like fools. Think about it. Is there any stronger motivator than the fear of being publicly humiliated?

Ha! So we said that is what we will do! We whipped this page up in a flash, decided that 100 days would be plenty of time to make our new site and launched the pre-launch!

So, that is why we did it.
