What a waste of valuable time!

As you most probably know, I partially own x2interactive – Web Agency. So naturally ownership comes with strings attached, e.g. doing lots of things that aren’t what I wanted to do in my life, such as managing staff, looking into finances, selling, supporting, and more. While doing all those things on a daily basis, I remind my self that I love to design websites, so I do that too, as much as possible!

By reading the above, you can understand that I am a person with a limited amount of free time. When I do get some free time, I like to spend it doing creative things with my family or doing some sports.

Why am I writing this post?

The other day, I got a call from a guy that wanted a website. This guy, was located 60km away from me. I told him about our starting prices (on the phone) I explained the technologies we used (on the phone) and asked him if, now that he knew this information, if he was still interested. He said “Yes! Please come to my Hotel so we can talk business!”.

So, I arranged a meeting that would take up at least half of my working day. I would need one hour to reach the place, I estimated I would be there for another hour or two and I would need one more hour to get back. Ok, no problem. Since the guy is so enthusiastically interested, why not!? Read More…

In fear of the SEO Gods

Fellow Web Professionals,

Sometimes I wonder why we focus so much on White Hat SEO when I see that my competition uses Black Hat tactics and is not penalised by Google or Bing.

Does an algorithm that is so awesome and complicated but at the same time is fair and just, really even exist or is it all about marketing?!?! Is it all about “the fear” of the algorithm, just as once people lived in fear of the wrath of the gods? Have the SEO Gods managed to make as believe that we will be penalised if we don’t behave when in truth we will not? How can this be real when I see with my own eyes others that get great results by defying them?!  Read More…

Dear friends and fellow Web Professionals,

I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

And to all of you out there that are not having a Happy Christmas, I hope next year will be better for you. I have had a couple of black Christmases my self and I understand how contradicting things might feel inside of you. Just keep going and take care.

I wish health, love and happiness to everyone.

Thanks

TedxAthens 2012. My Experience

Yesterday I returned from Athens. I was there since Friday morning. The reason I went to Athens this time was because I wanted to attend the TedxAthens 2012 event. I had booked my ticket one month ago and I really looked forward to experiencing it first hand. So, as you have already understood, this is TedxAthens through my eyes. In other words, it is a description of the event from the time I arrived at the “Warm Up” event on Friday night up until I left from the main event on Saturday night but from a completely personal perspective.

Visit the new Alpha Marine mobile site by x2interactive

Alpha Marine is a returning customer. In 2010 we had designed a full flash website for them which you can view at www.alphamarine.gr. Since then many things have changed. Mobile devices are slowly becoming the browsing devices of preference. This means website owner with a full flash website would not be as accessible as needed on mobile devices. Following my company’s advice, the people at Alpha Marine decided that it was time to invest in a mobile solution. The mobile solution that we chose was Responsive which means that it can work on the Tablets and also on the iPhone and other mobile devices. Even though this is a website for mobile devices, the website’s content is 100% complete. This means that all the information that is available on the full flash Desktop website is also available on the mobile site. Read More…

Visit x2interactive.gr. Our new company website has launched.

Our company was lacking a professional website for many years. Ever since we decided to change it in 2008, we somehow got stuck and never managed to complete a new design. We went through many looks & feels and we just couldn’t decide upon anything. This is usually the case when a Web Agency has to design their own presence. Below you can see some other designs we made during the years, designs that just got tossed into the trash and never got developed. Read More…

Official launch of the new Galaxy Hotel website by x2interactive

On Friday we released the new Galaxy Hotel website. It is based on the www.galaxy-villas.com website, which is owned by the same group of Hotels. The Galaxy Hotel is a larger, more luxurious city hotel based in the centre of the capital of Crete. It offers a wide variety of luxurious services and can accommodate a large number of people. The website is built by hand, totally custom designed and uses the x2iManager CMS which is the proprietary CMS we have built at x2interactive. All photos and videos are by Christos Drazos, a real talent.

Check it out at www.galaxy-hotel.com and let us know what you think! Read More…

Visit Casial.net. The Online Casino Review Portal designed and developed by x2interactive

The Casial.net project was an interesting challenge. It was something completely new for our company (x2interactive) and for that reason only we had to pay special attention to every detail, not to mention the fact that the website itself was quite large and demanding.

To reach the final outcome we followed all the creative/development processes by the book. When I mean by the book, I mean by our book!

It all started with an analysis of the idea. Every functionality, every user interface idea, was written down on paper. Well, on a document file to be precise. On a Google Doc file to be exact. Using the collaborative powers of Google Docs we got the idea to the point where we could move on the the next step, the Wireframing. Read More…
